Lezzeno

Lezzeno lies on the eastern shore of the Como branch of Lake Como, just a few kilometers from Bellagio. The municipality stretches for over 7 km and consists of seventeen hamlets, distributed along the coast and on the slopes of the Colmenacco, Forcoletta, and San Primo mountains.

Lezzeno’s wine was once famous for its medicinal properties. Beyond the hamlet of Villa, before reaching Bellagio, you can admire the Sassi Grosgalli, cliffs with sheer walls overlooking the lake. Also impressive is the boat tour to the Grotta dei Bulberi or Blue Grotto, where extraordinary light effects can be seen.

The church of Saints Quirico and Giulitta, built in the sixteenth century, is worth a visit. Inside, there is a large fresco by the Intelvese painter G. Quaglio. Another attraction is the ancient Oratory of Madonna dei Ceppi, with a marble statue of the Madonna with Child dating back to the fifteenth century.

Lezzeno and its hamlets offer numerous hiking opportunities, including the Via Crucis with its fourteen chapels leading to the Church of Santa Trinità.

Lezzeno is also famous for its gastronomic specialty: Missoltini, lake fish (bleaks) dried in the sun and grilled.
